Team Fresh Faces – Laura Aguilera-Flemming

Meet the team! Members of the 2008-09 Unleashed crew are charged with serving as the eyes and ears of their campuses, communities and generation. Their job is to document issues and ideas, events, people, places and things that are important to today’s young people, particularly the young people in Central Washington. This group — the 10th since Unleashed started in 1999 — has been writing, photographing and creating illustrations since May. Their stories, columns, reviews, photographs and works of art appear in the pages of the Yakima Herald-Republic as well as on the Unleashed blog at unleashed.yakimablogs.com. Here’s a chance to get to know them a little better.

La Salle High, 15, sophomore
Favorite subject: Biology.
Favorite Activities: Tennis, music, acting, reading.
Favorite food: Tacos.
Favorite music: Taylor Swift, Colbie Caillat, The Veronicas.
Favorite films: “Juno,” “Mean Girls,” “A Walk to Remember.”
Favorite books: “The Truth About Forever” by Sarah Dessen and the “Twilight” series by Stephenie Meyer.
Three words to describe yourself: Social, determined, open-minded.
Greatest achievement: Making it into an acting school called John Robert Powers.
If you could leave tonight on an all-expenses-paid trip, where would you go? Paris, to see the Eiffel Tower.
What would you do with $1 million? Donate some to find a cure for cancer and buy my friends exciting things.
If you could meet anyone, who would you choose? Tyra Banks, because she’s a great role model for girls and shows that not all celebrities have to be thin.
Who is your hero? My dad, because he helped the community.
Biggest fear: Failure.
Greatest wish: Become a writer for a fashion magazine.
When and where were you the happiest? Summers in my neighborhood with my friends.
Most treasured possession: My friends and family, because I love them.
Favorite place in your hometown: My best friend’s house.
How do you see yourself in 10 years? Successful and happy.
Why do you want to be on Unleashed? I love to write and want to pursue a job in journalism.
