What would you do with $1 million? Find a charity and give all the proceeds to that charity or my church.
If you could meet anyone, who would you choose? Tim McGraw.
Who is your hero? My family.
Biggest fear: Hydrophobia.
Greatest wish: For the world to realize there is no need for war.
When and where were you the happiest? When I am surrounded by the people I love or doing what I love most.
Most treasured possession: My camera.
Favorite place in your hometown: The arboretum.
What do you like most about your school? The classes and people.
How do you see yourself in 10 years? Living life to the fullest in Hawaii or Seattle.
Why did you want to be on Unleashed? To start my career as a freelance photographer.

Kimberly Rene Heether

What would you do with $1 million? Buy a 2010 Lamborghini Reventon Roadster.
If you could meet anyone, who would you choose? Barbara Walters.
Who is your hero? My Aunt Nancy.
Biggest fear: Not being all I can be.
Greatest wish: For my brother to find God.
When and where were you the happiest? At Rimrock. I was with my best friend for my family reunion and we were riding my Jet Ski in the rain.
Most treasured possession: My iPod and my camera.
Favorite place in your hometown: The Olive Garden or Codey’s shop. It’s a tie.
What do you like most about your school? My teachers.
How do you see yourself in 10 years? Settled and being an anchor woman and surrounded by those I love.
Why do you want to be on Unleashed? To begin my journey. One day I will think back to Unleashed after finishing the morning news broadcast and say with a smile, “Yup, that’s where it all started.”

Hannah Rose Naughton
Davis, senior, 17.
Favorite activities: Golfing, soccer, reading, dancing, swimming, hanging out with friends, and laughing. Life without a good gut-busting, teary-eyed laugh every day wouldn’t be very exciting.
Favorite food: Cereal. I could eat it every meal. Wake up with some Frosted Flakes, munch on some Captain Crunch at noon, then maybe throw in some Special K with Strawberries for dinner, just to be healthy.
Favorite music: Anything you can turn up really loud in your car and sing all the lyrics to. Not that heavy metal stuff, though; that scares me. I like music with a good beat.
Favorite films: “She’s the Man,” “P.S. I Love You,” “The Notebook,” “The Italian Job,” “Pirates of the Caribbean” and many more.
Favorite books: “My Sister’s Keeper,” “Jane Eyre,” the Harry Potter series and “To Kill a Mockingbird.”
Three words to describe yourself: Tall, gangly, very pale.
Greatest achievement: Making it to state in golf, and keeping up with my super-busy schedule.
All-expenses-paid trip: I would sail around the bright blue waters and pink beaches of the Caribbean.
What would you do with $1 million? Donate most of it to Children’s Village, and keep some of it for gas money, which, thanks to good old Dad, I have to pay for.
If you could meet anyone, who would you choose? Andy Samberg from “Saturday Night Live.” Meeting the whole SNL cast would be even better.
Who is your hero? Mom and Dad. I can’t say enough about them. They do so much for me, and I love them very much.
Biggest fear: Having something terrible happen to my family or a close friend.
Greatest wish: A cure for cancer.
When and where were you the happiest? When my little sister Fiona was born on Feb. 16, 2001.
Most treasured possession: My alarm clock. Without it I wouldn’t get to school until noon.
Favorite place in your hometown: The Yakima Country Club golf course. Not necessarily to golf — even though I love to golf — but to take long walks on. It is gorgeous.
What do you like most about your school? Its diversity. Everyone at Davis is accepted, and there aren’t really cliques. Davis has great teachers, the International Baccalaureate program, and an inviting atmosphere.
How do you see yourself in 10 years? Ten years? I’m not even sure what I’m doing tomorrow.
Why do you want to be on Unleashed? This is my fourth and final year on Unleashed, and I hope to make the best of this great opportunity to have a voice in the local newspaper. Being on Unleashed has been such an amazing experience. It has taught me many lifelong skills and helped me step out of my comfort zone.

Colleen Fontana
Davis, senior, 17.
Favorite activities: Reading, writing, playing volleyball, hanging out with friends, playing piano, Ultimate Frisbee, drinking iced tea, sledding.
Favorite food: Spaghetti and peanut butter, but not together!
Favorite music: Anything fun! Especially Regina Specktor, Coldplay, John Mayer and the “Slumdog Millionaire” soundtrack.
Favorite films: “Get Smart,” “Princess Bride.”

Three words to describe yourself: Spontaneous, driven, outgoing.
Greatest achievement: Surviving International Baccalaureate.

What would you do with $1 million? Shop for just a few things, then cure swine flu and buy schools and food for children in Third World countries.
If you could meet anyone, who would you choose? Audrey Hepburn.
Who is your hero? My sister.
Biggest fear: Losing someone I love.
Greatest wish: To work at National Geographic.
When and where were you the happiest? Dancing to “Dancing Queen” with my family and friends on a ferry boat at my brother’s wedding.

What do you like most about your school? The diversity.
How do you see yourself in 10 years? Traveling, writing, taking pictures, and changing lives.
Why do you want to be on Unleashed? I love meeting new people. I have such a passion for learning their stories and sharing those stories with others. Unleashed will help me to write about things I love and learn about things I know nothing about.

Eisenhower, senior, 17.

Greatest achievement: I feel like I’m too young to have a really great achievement.

What would you do with $1 million? Save some for college, buy a convertible Bentley, travel across Europe, and donate the rest.
If you could meet anyone, who would you choose? Mustafa Kemal Ataturk. He was one of the most amazing men in history.
Who is your hero? Ataturk, my mom, and my sister Tulin.
Biggest fear: Losing my family and friends.
Greatest wish: For my family and friends to be happy.
When and where were you the happiest? Whenever I’m in Turkey. I love it. Especially last summer when I got to see my best friend Aymila again after not seeing her for four years. I also had the opportunity to learn how to windsurf with my friends Arman and Berkan. Oh, and whenever I eat Turkish food I’m pretty happy.
Most treasured possession: My memories.
Favorite place in your hometown: I love every part of my hometown of Izmir, Turkey.
What do you like most about your school? It’s Ike. Enough said.
How do you see yourself in 10 years? Probably working on my Ph.D.
Why do you want to be on Unleashed? It’s one of the best opportunities in the nation. What I say in Unleashed can make a difference.

Jenna Davison
Eisenhower, junior, 16.

Favorite foods: Pozole, cheese zombies, sopes, lettuce.
Favorite music: Gospel, soul, R&B, contemporary Christian, soft rock.
Favorite movies: “Freedom Writers,” “Pay it Forward,” meaningful movies that inspire.
Favorite books: The Bible, “Love that Dog,” “The Shack,” “To Kill a Mockingbird.”
Three words to describe yourself: Diligent, well-rounded, compassionate.
Greatest achievement: Being elected ASB president for the 2010-2011 school year and making it to state for choir two years in a row.
If you could leave tonight on an all-expenses-paid trip where would you go: To the Grand Canyon and sing at the top of my lungs!
What would you with $1 million? Give 10 percent as tithes for my church, help my parents/family financially, and pay for college.
If you could meet anyone, who would you choose? Cassie Bernal.
Who is your hero? Jesus Christ. He made the ultimate sacrifice for me.
Biggest fear: Giving up and not having sufficient time on presentations.
Greatest wish: A cure for diabetes.
Most treasures possession: My Bible.
When and where are you the happiest: When I’m singing on the praise and worship team at church or when I’m taking creative risks at Power of Hope camps.
Favorite place in your hometown: Safeway. They have the bombest trail mix in the world!
What do you like most about your school? The diversity, the Performing Arts Center, and the lunch ladies! :)
How do you see yourself in 10 years? Graduated from college as a practicing occupational therapist and possibly married.
Why do you want to be on Unleashed? It’s a tremendous platform to give my high school and community the positive acknowledgment it deserves and to meet new people, make friends.

Hannah Kivi
Riverside Christian, sophomore, 15.
Favorite activities: Hanging out with my best friend, playing softball, four-wheeling, going to the beach, listening to music, and stargazing.
Favorite food: I’m in love with Zesta Cucina’s chopped salad.
Favorite music: I listen to a lot of alternative. But my favorites would have to be Paramore, Owl City, JET, Coldplay, Relient K, Phoenix, Death Cab for Cutie and many others.
Favorite films: “The Count of Monte Cristo,” “Ferris Bueller’s Day Off.”
Favorite books: The Bible. It’s everything I need. I recently read “The Host” by Stephanie Meyer. That would have to be my second favorite.
Three words to describe yourself: Outgoing, random, optimistic.
Greatest achievement: The ones I am most proud of are in sports or my writing.

What would you do with $1 million? Buy a new computer, put money in my college fund, and send all the kids from Discovery Lab School to the Shakespeare festival in Ashland, Ore.
If you could meet anyone, whom would you choose? Michio Kaku, because he is a physics god.
Who is your hero? Albert Einstein, because schools said he was a failure and yet he turned into a world-renowned figure who contributed to humanity.
Biggest fear: Getting shots, spiders, falling out of my kayak.
Greatest wish: To make my mark in history — in a good way!
When and where were you the happiest? I try to be happy all the time, wherever I am, whatever I’m doing.
Most treasured possession: The stuffed toy koala my grandparents sent me from Australia when I was 2.
Favorite place in your hometown: Anywhere in my historic Barge-Chestnut neighborhood.
What do you like most about your school? Working with the abundance of great teachers and people.
How do you see yourself in 10 years? In graduate school after hitchhiking around Australia and Asia after college.
Why do you want to be on Unleashed? I think that the youth of Yakima are an important resource for the community and that Unleashed is an effective tool for presenting our voices. Besides, it is FUN!

Mia Walsh
Davis, senior, 17.
Favorite activities: Dancing around the kitchen with my sisters, giggling uncontrollably with my mom, watching old “90210” episodes with my sisters, making my dad laugh.
Favorite food: My mom’s tomato sauce, whipped cream, Wheat Thins.
Favorite music: I love country music and dance music. My two favorite songs right now are “Alright” by Darius Rucker and “Say Hey (I Love You)” by Michael Franti & Spearhead.
Favorite films: “The Family Stone,” “Step Up 2,” “Sex and the City: The Movie,” “Twilight,” “Casino Royale.”

Three words to describe yourself: Entertaining, empathetic, eccentric.
Greatest achievement: Surviving my solo in Outward Bound.
All-expenses-paid trip, where would you go? First, I would fly to Seattle with my parents and pick up one of my sisters, then we would fly to Washington, D.C., and pick up my other sister, and finally we would fly to a small beach in Naples, Italy, where we would eat fresh seafood, get beautiful tans and swim in the ocean.
What would you do with $1 million? Give to the World Wildlife Fund.
If you could meet anyone, who would you choose? Nancy Pelosi.
Who is your hero? Gandhi has always been my hero! He was one amazing little man who inspired great men like Martin Luther King.
Biggest fear: Being left alone.
Greatest wish: To always be happy.
When and where were you the happiest? On a family vacation — with my dog, too — to the Oregon coast when it was raining. We were all happy and relaxed, playing board games and drinking coffee.
Most treasured possession: My cornicello.

How do you see yourself in 10 years? Living on a ranch in a large house with my sisters and parents next door.

If you could meet anyone, who would you choose? The members of Passion Pit; I want to tell them their music gives me butterflies.
Who is your hero? My parents. They put up with me and seem to enjoy doing it.

When and where were you the happiest? This summer. I was with my entire family and my great boyfriend for the first time in a long time.
Most treasured possession: My Canon Rebel! It was the nicest gift anyone has ever given me. I cried when I opened it.
Favorite place in your hometown: North Town Coffeehouse, Borders.
What do you like most about your school? I love the community service aspect. I’ve participated in two immersions, and I love the feeling I get knowing that I’m helping someone.
How do you see yourself in 10 years? I hope to be working for a newspaper and changing the world with my camera. I want to be married and maybe have kids. For the most part, I truly hope I enjoy what I do and don’t join the large amount of people who hate waking up in the morning.
Why do you want to be on Unleashed? I want to finish my last year and continue to be published. I love having a voice in the community.

Georgia Gempler
Davis, sophomore, 15

All-expenses-paid trip: Any city in Europe. I have always liked history, and I feel so much more connected with it when I can actually experience it for yourself. Europe has so much rich history and classical iconic images that it has always been one of the places that I would most like to visit.
What would you do with $1 million? I would save only what would be needed for a college education, then spend time traveling around the world or country on a low budget to meet people who are truly in need of money. This way I would be able to make sure that it went directly into the most deserving hands.
If you could meet anyone, who would you choose? It would be someone who has been absolutely trashed by the media, like a celebrity-gone-wrong or a political figure. I have always wondered what goes on in the minds of people like that, and meeting one would be a good way to find out!
Who is your hero? People who do what they believe even when they are ridiculed.
Biggest fear: Nuclear war.
Greatest wish: For the world to be united as one planetary entity instead of separate countries.
When and where were you the happiest? During Christmas at home about five years ago when I got the entire Redwall series to read and enjoy.
Most treasured possession: My computer, the machine of the modern age.
Favorite place in your hometown: Essencia Artisan Bakery.
What do you like most about your school? You can be yourself and people will embrace you. You don’t have to conform to someone else’s idea of who you should be.
How do you see yourself in 10 years? Living in a foreign country with a job that I love, or still in school working my way toward doing something in life that I enjoy.
Why do you want to be on Unleashed? I want to be on Unleashed because it allows me to present my ideas to the public in a way that not many young people get to experience. It also allows me to get to know many people that I would never speak to by writing stories and columns for the newspaper.

What do you like most about your school? Everyone knows everyone, so we generally all get along.
How do you see yourself in 10 years? Maybe graduating from Harvard, or some other Ivy League college, and enjoying the rest of my 20s carefree.
Why do you want to be on the Unleashed team? I think this is a great opportunity to get a teen’s voice heard and something that can possibly open other doors for the future.

West Valley, freshman, 14.
Favorite activities: Soccer, photography, water skiing, youth group, camp.

Greatest achievement: Soccer. I started playing as a little girl, and it’s become a passion of mine. It’s an achievement in progress; the goal is to learn all I can to take it to the next level.

Why do you want to be on the Unleashed team? I want to learn more about one of my favorite hobbies, photography. Being on Unleashed will be a great opportunity for me to learn more about it and gain more experience.
