Some of the Unleashed photographers have put together a photo project showing teens making a difference in their communities.
The student photographers have been working on the photo essay for about two months now. They are: Colleen Fontana of Davis High School, Hannah Besso of Davis High School, Alex Braman of Davis High School, Amanda Marquez of Grandview High School and Sandy Hanses of West Valley Junior High.
From wrapping presents to bagging leaves, teens throughout the Yakima Valley are giving back to their community. Here are a few photos that show them in action.

Haley Haubrich, 17, left, and Lauren Jones, 16, wrap toys for a leadership project on December 4th. Each Ram prep class at the West Valley High School is assigned to helping a family from YWCA Women's Shelter. The classes collected money, clothes, toys, and wrapped presents for 42 families and the presents were delivered to YWCA on December 17th.

The program has been going on for the last 10 years and helps low income elders and adults with disabilities. This year about 146 volunteers helped out, starting at 9 a.m. and meeting at McKinley Elementary School for complimentary pizza. Stewart Copeland, a 54-year-old history teacher at Davis High School, says he volunteers because "I get satisfaction from helping others."

Russel Shean, 16, a sophomore at Davis High School, waits for someone who wants their purchases gift wrapped at Borders. For a donation to his Eagle Scout Project Fund, Russel was wrapping gifts for holiday shoppers. He hopes to raise enough money to build a sign to mark the beginning of the trail at the west entrance of Cowiche Canyon, and benefit the Cowiche Canyon Conservancy.
