Unleashed is back!

Thanks to a public-private partnership between ESD 105, local school districts and the Yakima Herald-Republic newspaper, the teen journalism program is being revived.

Unleashed is now accepting applications for certain positions on the 2009-2010 team.

Here’s the list of participating high school and the number of slots available at each one:

• High schools in the Yakima School District — nine spots (filled)
• West Valley — three spots (filled)
• East Valley — one spot (filled)
• Ellensburg — one spot (filled)
• Grandview — one spot (filled)
• Highland — one spot (filled)
• Mabton — one spot (filled)
• Wahluke — one spot (still need!)
• Selah — one spot (filled)
• Toppenish — one spot (filled)
• White Swan — one spot (filled)
• La Salle — one spot (filled)
• Riverside Christian — one spot (filled)

The first team meeting of the new Unleashed took place in September, 2009.

The award-winning program, in its eleventh year, had ended in February, 2009, due to budget cuts at the newspaper.

Now, Unleashed is published every other Sunday in the Herald-Republic.
